for a happy and safe
“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.”
— G.K. Chesterton
Memorial Day is a historical American holiday honoring the men and women who died while serving us all in the U.S. military. Today, Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May.
Traditional ways Americans have celebrated Memorial Day
We Americans have observed and commemorated this day of remembrance in many ways for many reasons, some very personal. Some choose a solemn form of commemoration, remembering loved ones and those unknown who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. Activities observed range from formal events to the tradition of spending time in meditation and prayer at 3pm local time.
American flags may be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day from sunrise until noon.
So, how can we say Happy Memorial Day?
Wishes for a “Happy Memorial Day” come from our hope that over this holiday weekend we’re all able to remember and enjoy the many liberties and privileges their sacrifice has given us.
